A few lines from "Missing You At Christmastime":
"We're missing you at Christmastime
When the world is filled with cheer
As families gather to celebrate
And hold their loved ones, dear
We face each day with a sadness
A deep heaviness of heart
Made worse by all the cheeriness
In which the world is taking part
When nightfall comes and lights aglow
In sparkling, colored array
And shoppers scurry with packages
Meant for loved ones on Christmas Day
Our hearts feel aching loneliness
That this year you won't be near
And we find ourselves returning to Christmases past
When this emptiness wasn't here
When you were alive and well with us
And in festivities took active part
Sharing the arrival of Christmas morn
Enjoying gifts planned from the heart
When your laughter rang out like silver bells
That pierced the starry, winter sky
When you warmed our souls with your goodness and love
When you were precious close, nearby
But now you have gone to that better place
That we have not yet known
And have left such a hole, it can't be replaced
In our hearts, our family, our home
Just let us know that you are okay
Through the peace of feeling you near
Somehow get us through this "season of hope"
That fills us with loneliness and tears
Sing that you're safe in the carols
That so sweetly fill the air
May these melodies give us peace we miss
Release our hearts from this burdened care
Shine bright in all the Christmas lights
Filling houses, nativities and streets
And may this light heal our grieving souls
Till our broken hearts are mended and complete
Whisper peaceful words in snow falling from heaven
In layers soft, crystalline and light
Which in springtime turn to silvery melt
And will renew this whole earth to life
Most of all, come to us in the Spirit of Christmas
Help us feel this season's sweet embrace
May it enter our hearts and restore us to hope..."
