"I lost myself when I lost you

And I cannot seem to find

The life I had before you left

Before hopelessness conquered my mind

People tell me it will get better

And perhaps in time it will

But right now, I'm simply existing

Numbly trying to feel

Any emotion that extends beyond pain

Any tiny ray of hope

Wishing for a light to guide me through the darkness

Some method or means to cope

And so each day I awaken

And I take the time to breathe

Mechanically going through the motions

With a broken heart that grieves

Yet I'm deeply grateful for sweet mem'ries

Which provide moments of respite..."
