"You left at sunset

My heart was filled with sorrow

Wishing for more time with you

Knowing every moment with you

Had been a precious gift

You brought me joy

Infused my life with happiness

Filled my heart with peace

And warmed me with your love

It wasn't until after you'd parted

That I realized you left at sunset

For the earth and sky were still bathed

In shining rays of rose-golden light

And there was a tangible peace in the air

A sweet and beautiful calm

And I could feel it touch the depth of sadness

That had opened in my heart

It seemed that the whole earth was reminding me

That the privilege of knowing you

Far outweighed the sadness of a goodbye

And as the sun continued its course beyond my view

I thought of what a fitting tribute it was

That you left at the most glorious moment of the day

When the earth and heavens are transformed in brilliance..."
