I regretfully confess

Your parting has not healed my wounds

Perhaps time will, but not yet

For your life affected mine so deeply

It matters not if you tried your best

And though I recall some happy times

Much sadness filled the rest

And I'm bewildered that through your passing

A deeper grief has been revealed

Than I ever anticipated feeling

Reminding me I'm far from healed

And I've come to acknowledge this reality

That in spite of all the pain

Though you weren't the easiest person to love

I loved you anyway

I hope you are finally being freed

From the demons you faced in life

For your journey here wasn't an easy one

That's a fact I can't deny

And whether others broke you, or you broke yourself ..."
